Groups and networks

ACE has established a legal and commercial group and a health and safety group to help practitioners better understand the issues in these areas that have an impact on member firms. ACE also has Sector Interest Groups (SIGs) that have been set up to enable ACE to better connect with the industry and the key players within it. These groups cover six main areas - transport, utilities, buildings, local government, sustainability and procurement - some of which in turn are broken down into sub groups as appropriate.

Membership of the sector interest groups comprises key individuals from a wide range of consultancy and engineering organisations active in the sectors. These organisations include some of the most influential names in the construction industry.

International Business Group

Many of ACE's member firms work internationally, underlining the significant reputation of UK consultancy and engineering firms for providing world-class consultancy services to clients across the globe. In order to keep abreast of international issues and to assist members working overseas, ACE has formed an International Business Group (IBG).

This group, which is responsible for the development of ACE's international strategy and initiatives, meets at least four times a year and is chaired by Gavin English of WSP Group.

Sector Interest Groups

Sector interest groups meet three or four times a year to discuss issues of strategic importance to their businesses and sectors. Outputs from the groups are used to influence key clients and direct ACE’s policy agenda.

Middle East Group

Many of ACE's member firms work in the Middle East, underlining the significant reputation of UK consultancy and engineering firms for providing world-class consultancy services to clients across the globe. In order to keep abreast of international issues and to assist members working in the region, ACE has formed an ACE Middle East Group (ACE MEG). This group, which is responsible for the development of ACE's international strategy and initiatives, meets at least four times a year.

Progress Network

Key aims and objectives

ACE progress networks events are fun, educational and inspirational; as well as being distinct from other industry institutions; as the majority of events are focused on commercial aspects of the built and natural environment rather than the technical.

Progress network empowers young professionals to take control of their careers and network outside their existing company and to cultivate and sustain good relationships between companies and individuals working within the sector.

Our members learn more about other disciplines within the profession and how to collaborate effectively as well as developing their business skills through our CPD accredited business seminars. Developing skills base through these organising initiatives and events as well as networking enables progress network members to meet a variety of leading figures within the built and natural environment as well as learning from their experience.
