Supporting the industry is at the core of the work of the Institution, whether this is through its range of authoritative technical publications, its comprehensive programme of training courses, lectures and debates or services such as a bi-monthly journal and a comprehensive library.

One century down the line, we are still looking ahead, and our members continue to change the world.

The Construction Products Association represents 85% by value of all manufacturers and suppliers of construction products in the UK, including the largest companies in the industry as well as 42 sector trade associations.  Collectively the industry provides 15% of goods manufactured in this country.

The Association acts as a single voice to promote and campaign for the construction product manufacturers and suppliers in order to support a growing and profitable industry.  Its growing credibility can be seen by the increasing influence it has with government departments and other industry and political bodies.

The construction products industry is at the heart of the UK economy, providing essential materials for our homes, schools, hospitals, factories, offices, roads and railways.

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is a registered charity that strives to promote and progress civil engineering. We believe that civil engineers are "at the heart of society, delivering sustainable development through knowledge, skills and professional expertise."
With this in mind, we are a qualifying body, a centre for the exchange of specialist knowledge, and a provider of resources to encourage innovation and excellence in the profession worldwide.

ICE was founded in 1818 by a small group of idealistic young men. We were granted a royal charter in 1828 where we declared that our aim was to "foster and promote the art and science of civil engineering". That is still our aim today.
